Kochi: Bharti Airtel, one of India’s leading telecommunications service providers, added the highest number of wireless subscribers in the Kerala circle for October 2024. According to the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Airtel added 60,186 wireless subscribers in the region, bringing its total subscriber base to 8,825,708.

Airtel is the only telco to add wireless subscribers in the circle. State-run BSNL lost 2,371, while private operators Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea (VIL) lost 92,969 and 102,652 wireless subscribers, respectively, during the same period.

Nationally, Airtel added 1.93 million (1,928,263) wireless subscribers across all telecom circles in October 2024. This growth has raised its total wireless subscriber base to 385.41 million (385,410,746) as of October 31, 2024. This achievement demonstrates Airtel’s continued leadership in customer acquisition and market expansion.

TRAI also reported Airtel’s peak Visitor Location Register (VLR) at an impressive 99.01 percent in the Kerala circle, while its overall VLR percentage stood at 99.48 percent, the highest in the industry. These figures highlight Airtel’s superior network quality and reliability, further solidifying its position as a trusted telecom provider.

The telecom industry witnessed a decline in total wireless subscribers in India—from 1,153.72 million at the end of September 2024 to 1,150.42 million at the end of October 2024—Airtel’s market share stood at 33.50 percent, reflecting its ability to retain and attract customers amidst challenging conditions.
