Kochi: Industries Minister Shri P. Rajeeve  inaugurated the land-pooling office of Greater Kochi Development Authority (GCDA), marking the start of the acquisition of the land for Infopark Phase-3 and terming the move as a “revolutionary change” in the state’s development.

Pointing out that the government had amended several rules to simplify the land acquisition process, the Minister said the most innovative of them has been land pooling. “As per the law, authorities need not require Cabinet approval for new projects built using Infopark's own resources. This will speed up future development activities,” he noted at the ceremony at the Park Centre in Infopark Phase-1 in suburban Kakkanad.

IT Department Special Secretary Shri Seeram Sambasiva Rao, who presided, said Infopark Phase-3 will become a model city for the entire country.

Infopark CEO Shri Susanth Kurunthil presented the concept of the proposed Infopark Phase-3 AI City to the audience. The official procedures for Phase-3 have begun with the inauguration of the office. While GCDA is moving forward with land acquisition, Infopark is moving forward with the design and software development of the AI City, he revealed.

“The primary mission of AI City is to run all basic services based on artificial intelligence. The services will be provided through real-time data analysis,” Shri Kurunthil noted. “The activities will be controlled by a digital nervous system. Deep-tech software technology for the proposed AI City will be developed as much as possible in Kerala. This will facilitate the creation of an ecosystem, including deep-tech startups,” he added.

GCDA Chairman Shri K. Chandran Pillai said the endeavour confers the coming generation with “great responsibility” to make land-pooling a success. “The model to be set by this intervention will be very big,” he noted, expressing the hope the completion of the land acquisition “in a short time”.

Ernakulam District Assistant Collector Smt Parvathy Gopakumar released a booklet containing land-pooling and AI City concept. GCDA Secretary Smt Shary M.V. made a presentation on the project. Among other attendees was GCDA Executive Member Shri A.B. Sabu.
